Battle plan for engagement in education

The Kareb Program for Involvement in Education works for social change in the field of reducing gaps and equal opportunities in Israeli society through the development, management, and operation of diverse enrichment classes and activities.
The program operates in all sectors of Israeli society (state, state-religious, Haredi, Arab and independent), especially in the periphery and among disadvantaged populations. The program is characterized by a wealth of programs and areas of knowledge, close professional pedagogical support, and the quality of the instructors.
The program has been operating for over 30 years as a program of the Ministry of Education, operated on its behalf by the Society for Community Centers and the "Tafnit Behinuch" association, founded by the Rashi Foundation, which won the tender for its management and operation.
The program provides lessons and enrichment activities that are essential for the cognitive, social, and emotional development of children, and they enable, among other things: cultivating listening, dialogue, and cooperation skills, empowering boys and girls by providing space for personal and emotional expression, developing cognitive abilities through diverse experiences and challenges, and more.
The local coordinators that the program places in every place where it operates are professional and experienced educators who operate on the basis of a unique culture of intervention that has been created and formulated over many years of work. The local coordinators connect with the concepts and vision of the educational institutions and authorities and enrich them while adhering to three principles: partnership, dialogue and choice. Each year, a unique "battle suit" is sewn for each institution, consisting of a basket of programs selected by a steering committee consisting of school staff, parents, supervision and representatives of the local authority. In addition, the local coordinators initiate and promote extracurricular processes and products at the educational institution level and at the local authority level.
